Hi All!!!
I just installed Oracle 8i on My PC in F:\Oracle
As the installation completed, I got a message that STRTDB80.EXE has exncountered a problem needs to close. (The same dialog box, which pops every time system encounters a problem, asking us to send the problem to Microsoft)
The problem which I am facing is that i am getting this annoying message everytime my system starts.
I retrieved details of this Problem from Dr Watson log files from my system, it says something like this :
F:\Oracle\bin\strtdb80.exe c0000005 nosymbols(0012E860)

I am not able to understand a single thing out of this.
I have checked the start-up routines of my PC there is nothing related to Oracle, Database or SQL..
Still the pop-up box (telling me about the failure of STRTDB80.EXE) is annoying me very much as it pops up as soon as sysytem boots….
Will Un-installing then re-installing Oracle solve the problem????

i work for a small company and our system crashed back in december 07 and we lost everything. the backup tapes were corrupted. We use Quickbooks as our main program. Is it possible to do a system restore on one of the computers (if disconnected from the network) and if so, would that bring back any info that was generated in quickbooks? could you do a system restore on the server without it affecting the existing database?
